MICRONEEDLING What is it? Microneedling is the process of using very small and thin needles over anesthetized skin, creating tiny punctures over the top layer of skin. These, micro- injuries stimulate the body's natural wound healing processes, resulting in cell turnover and increased collagen and elastin production, therefore reversing signs of aging, reducing visibility of scars, dark spots and reducing acne. This therapy uses Platelet-Rich Plasma- (PRP) a substance that has been proven to promote healing when injected. Plasma is a component of your blood that contains special “factors,” or proteins, that help your blood to clot, speed healing and increase collagen production. PRP facials have been shown to dramatically reduce signs of aging skin. The benefits of PRP include more dramatic results, and use of your body’s own healing powers which means there is almost zero chance of allergic reaction. Most patients require 1-3 treatments, depending on desired result. Some may require more to fully achieve your desired effect, after which, additional treatments can be scheduled on an “as needed” basis to maintain effect- usually every 6 months or so, depending on environmental factors and lifestyle.
