PRP has been shown to increase hair growth when small amounts are injected into the scalp. A recent randomized, placebo controlled clinical trial showed hair growth increase in 100% of participants. Direct quote from the study abstract- “Our data clearly highlight the positive effects of PRP injections on male pattern hair loss and absence of major side effects.” Most people will require between 3 and 5 treatments at 4-6 week intervals. After desired result is achieved, follow-up “maintenance” treatments should continue about every 6 months to a year, depending on the patient.
